BitDegree and Vilnius University (VU) scientists had two primary goals for their project: research on learners’ motivation to study online and development of a state-of-the-art gamified online education platform. Using a series of surveys, expert interviews, and group experiments, the teams explored the effects various economic and non-economic incentives (e.g., financial rewards or job offers) and game design elements (such as progress bars or scoreboards) have on course completion rates that are typically very low when learning online.

The e-learning platform then built by BitDegree was based on blockchain technology and focused on upskilling (especially stepping into digital professions that are currently in high-demand: web development, programming, game design, online business, etc.). Aside from the usual functionalities, the team created and upgraded three distinct user interfaces (instructor, learner, and employer), a practical tool that allows users to build their own learning paths, and a sponsor area for those who wish to fund other learners with talent acquisition or philanthropy in mind.

Title of the project BitDegree, UAB e-commerce model implementation
Project number 13.1.1-LVPA-K-860-01-1373
Project partner IT Company
Finance allocated 43 288.50 EUR
Project duration One year
Project funded by European Regional Development Fund

Demand has recently increased for company-wide employees’ training. Particularly, this need is relevant for flexible (hybrid) learning (earning when you want, from where you want). Companies have been hugely investing in employee training to raise their skills and qualification, motivation and offer a better overall employer package. On the other hand, individually organized training is usually more expensive and takes more time and effort to organize, so not all companies can get involved in them.

As a result, there is a need for off-the-shelf training that is both cheaper and more convenient to be accessible online, thus available at any time and anywhere. To provide and access such type of learning, a self-service system is mandatory that allows learners (employees) to access training remotely and learn flexibly at their own pace. As a result, BitDegree is developing B2B learning platform that will allow B2B customers to access the abundance of different learning materials, create training programs for different groups of employees, as well as create and provide their own educational material.

The IT solution is being developed with the help of an external IT company.

Duration of project implementation: 12 months.

The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The project is funded as part of the Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
